Seurat's method to compose "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jadde" in Barnes Foundation 5 / phrase

The largest circular units make the foundation structure.

The units of the second largest circle is used to balance the individual arcs.

I made a model of the second unit and overlap it on the first unit model.

Seurat [Grand Jadde] arc model with two types of circle (upper left quarter)

Looking at this, it can be seen that the circle between the sizes of the two types of circles are not used.

Furthermore, it can be expected that the uncolored part of the contours will be drawn by the arcs of the third and fourth sized circles.

The very elements of art are digital and clearly perceptible.

The unit structure is like a classical music score that only the effect can sense.

When we listen to music with sheet music on YouTube,

we can see that the phrase in the melody part is repeated.

When the shape is made up of several arcs, you can easily see the arcs of the same circle harmoniously.

The basic structure made of the largest circular unit acts as a music paper.

Individual closed-form such as figures and animals are melodies made up of only a limited number of arcs.

The arc, which is common to these shapes, is the smallest visible unit and acts like a phrase.

We can see arcs of the same circle as same type at the same time when they are placed close.

The arcs of the second largest circle are most effective.

The balance is achieved by overlapping the straight parts of the units.

Let's make a model with the largest circle and second largest circle.

The greatest achievement of Seurat and Cezanne was the rediscovery of the syntax of art.

The works that are popular these days, whose structure is not interesting,

is a level of pop music with no ingenuity in the score.
